Bernadette was born on the 7th of January 1844, in Lourdes, France. One day, in 1858, while collecting firewood near a grotto, Bernadette saw a beautiful lady praying a rosary. This lady was the Blessed Mother. She appeared to Bernadette many other times and identified herself as the Immaculate Conception. On one of the visits, Our Lady asked for a chapel, and for Bernadette to pray and to drink the spring water that appeared in the ground at the grotto. People visit Lourdes today to pray in the chapel and many people have been healed by the miraculous water. St. Bernadette’s feast day is on February 18th.
